Former Perth galloper Real Love remains outright $3.10 favourite in 2016 JRA Cup betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Sir John Hawkwood ($3.50) and market mover Astronomos ($5).

Will Real Love justify favouritism and return to winning form in the 2016 JRA Cup, or will one of her talented rivals post an upset?

Astronomos ($5)

One of two runners for Waratah Thoroughbreds in the 2016 JRA Cup, Astronomos has been confirmed to be partnered by in-form hoop Sam Clipperton and has been charged with carrying only 54kgs. Claiming six wins and a minor through only eleven career starts so far, the New Approach entire trialled well in the lead-up to his competitive return this time, and savaged the line for a close second in the ARA Fire BM85 (1630m) at Doomben on April 30th. Sure to have taken plenty of benefit from the run, Astronomos represents good value for money at current 2016 JRA Cup odds.

Sir John Hawkwood ($3.50)

Sir John Hawkwood has returned to racing in slick form this time, is drawn on the rails in the JRA Cup and is worth consideration for a bet at current odds, with Blake Spriggs aboard. Taking out the Listed Christmas Cup (2400m) and running second in the Listed Tattersalls Club Cup (2400m) over summer, the Sir Percy gelding resumed this time for success in the Group 3 Sky High Stakes (2000m) before placing third in the Group 3 Neville Sellwood Stakes (2000m) last time out.

Real Love ($3.10)

Real Love has returned to racing in typically slick form this time, will leave from the ideal barrier 6 and should carry plenty of upside into the 2016 JRA Cup. Running third in each of the Doriemus Handicap (2000m) and Listed Torney Night Cup (2500m) upon arriving in the care of trainer Darren Weir, the daughter of Desert King beat a talented field to the line in the Listed Roy Higgins Quality (2600m) on March 5th. Having since placed third in the Group 2 Adelaide Cup (3200m) and second in the Beck Property Group Plate (2000m) on April 23rd, Real Love is a leading chance of a first three finish in the JRA Cup.
