The JRA Cup was previously held on the same night as the Manikato Stakes. Now run on Moir Stakes night, the JRA Cup shares the race program with the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1200m), Group 2 events Bill Stutt Stakes (1600m) and Top Cut Stocks Stakes (1600m) and Group 3 event the Champagne Stakes.

JRA Cup Betting Tips

The JRA Cup doesn’t have a lot of history, so it is hard to reliably pick any patterns that can help with betting. It should be noted, however, that many of the runners of the JRA Cup have success in bigger races. Be sure to check out the nominations of the top runners in this race for tips later in the season.

Oddly, it isn’t the JRA Cup winners that do the best in future, though they are often well-respected horses. For example, while Alcopop won the JRA Cup in 2009, it was third place getter Shocking who won the Melbourne Cup that year. Another example is Master O’Reilly, who came third in the JRA Cup in 2007 and then went on to win the Caulfield Cup.

As the JRA Cup features so many strong runners, it is important that you have a reason to watch it, lest you ignore any important indications. The easy solution is to open up a Ladbrokes.com.au account and bet on the JRA Cup, giving you the perfect reason to watch and preparing you for an exciting spring racing season to come.
